Discover what makes this Italian metropolis one of the most prominent cities in Europe.

Milan, Italy was never at the top of my radar (frankly, my only prior impression was that this city hosts a lot of fashion shows). However, my experience of living in Milan for 4 months showed me that this city offers so much more than I could've possibly imagined!

Beyond the fashion scene and the bustling business world of vast array of things to do and see! Take a stroll through this Northern Italian city and you will find a stunning mix of old and new architecture and culture.

What makes Milan so unique is that this city possesses a seamless blend of old and new Italian culture. You can easily find skyscrapers and Roman ruins within the same vicinity, each exhibiting their own grandeur without taking away from the other's.

In Milan, there is something that will meet the interests of everyone, no matter if you are a history buff, a foodie or a fashion connoisseur.

This is the Duomo, or the Milan Cathedral, arguably the most eye-catching work of architecture within the city and the most popular tourist sight. Both the interior and exterior of this massive cathedral are detailed with intricate carvings by a selection of some of the most talented artists in history.

Milan, Italy is a city that is made incredibly unique by its melding of old and new Italian culture.

Here are a few elements that I found to be highlights of life in Milan:

The Navigli region in Milan, now one of the trendiest spots for restaurants and bars, along two canals that were once used for transportation.

Sforza Castle, in the heart of Milano.

Risotto alla Milanese, the specialty dish of Milano.
